I'll Pray For You

SMS Opt-In

I'll Pray For You (illprayforyou.com) is a prayer-reminder service. Customers create a free account, log prayer requests for people they've committed to pray for, and choose how they want to be reminded — email, web push, or SMS. This page documents how a customer opts in to the SMS channel and what they consent to.

Where opt-in happens

SMS opt-in occurs after sign-up, on the onboarding screen at /onboarding. The phone number field is optional — accounts that don't want SMS skip it and use email or web-push reminders instead. A customer can also add or remove a phone number later from /settings.

Phone numbers are verified by a one-time 6-digit code sent over SMS. A number cannot receive reminders until the customer enters that code, proving control of the device.

The screenshot below reproduces the exact UI a customer sees when adding their phone number. The disclosure paragraph is rendered directly above the verify action so consent and submission are on the same screen.

What customers receive

  • Prayer reminders for the requests the customer has logged, at the cadence they pick per request (e.g., daily, weekly, on a specific day).
  • One-time verification code when adding or changing a phone number.
  • HELP / STOP responses when the customer texts those keywords to the toll-free number.

We do not send marketing, promotional, advertising, or third-party SMS to opted-in numbers. The only outbound traffic is the reminders the customer scheduled themselves and the verification / help / stop replies above.

Message frequency

Variable. Each prayer request the customer logs has its own cadence (for example, “daily for 30 days” or “every Sunday for 12 weeks”). Total volume is the sum of those cadences. A typical customer with 3–5 active requests receives about 3–10 messages per week. A customer with no active requests receives zero.

How to opt out

Reply STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT) to any message. The customer is removed immediately and no further SMS will be sent to that number. The customer can also remove or change their phone number from /settings inside the app.

Costs

I'll Pray For You does not charge for SMS messages. Standard message and data rates from the customer's mobile carrier may apply.

Data handling

Phone numbers and SMS consent records are used solely to deliver the reminders the customer scheduled and to satisfy carrier compliance requirements. We do not share mobile information or SMS consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers are shared only with our SMS provider (Twilio) for the sole purpose of sending the customer's requested reminders. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.
